Finding the Perfect Costume for Your Infant for the Holidays

For your baby’s first costume party, there are lots of things to consider in baby costumes.

  • It should be well sewn and durable.
  • It should fit well.
  • It should be fire retardant.
  • It shouldn’t be restrictive for baby to move in.
  • It should be warm enough for the setting.
  • It should have no buttons or decorations that can be removed and/or choked on.
  • It should be cute.

That last rule goes without saying; any baby in any costume is going to be adorable! But these are important things to remember because nobody wants to put their baby in danger or discomfort.

Online stores are great places to shop for baby costumes. Parents can find costumes that exhibit all of the above rules and ensure more fun, no dangers and great, memorable pictures. Of course, nothing should replace a parent’s cautious eye to make sure the infant is safe and warm in the chosen costume.

Many infant costumes come in ‘sleeper’ styles, with decorations on the sleeper itself to make the character outfit. These are nice because the baby can wear underclothing and be plenty warm enough; and if the weather is warm, these costumes can be worn alone.

It’s not a good idea to dress a baby in flammable materials. One never knows when a candle might tip over, or other unforeseen accident might happen. Outfits made from polyester and some other materials are just risky. Look for cotton or “flame retardant” on the tags.

Most of all, have good, safe fun and take lots of photos to show the child when they’re older. They’ll be priceless!

Being Your First Child’s Teacher

Whether or not you decide to home school your child, instruction begins in the home. That can be an overwhelming realization with your first child, so how can you be sure you are doing all you can to support his or her early development?

Serving as your child’s teacher is incredibly rewarding, so relax. Preschoolers absorb astonishing amounts of information, so they will soak up everything you teach like a sponge.

Simple activities and educational games are the best ways to start at-home instruction. Cut out pictures of items that begin with a specific letter and spend a week learning that letter together. For example, when teaching the letter “A,” you can slice an apple or cut it in half and then let your child dip it in paint to use as a stamp on construction paper. You can also serve snacks that week that begin with the letter A.

Homeschooling your children from elementary to high school is a different ballgame, but equally rewarding. Make a plan on how to approach each day and create a schedule. Be consistent in your efforts to create a structured routine so your child knows what to expect.

A parent toddler group is an informal setting where parents or caretakers and their toddlers can go to meet new people and socialize. In a world where everyone is busy and where families are getting smaller, there is a huge need for such groups in order to ensure that children have an opportunity to meet other people and learn to interact with them.

Such a group can be arranged by the people living in a community if there is none available otherwise. Teaching Manners to your Toddler

While you can get away with almost anything when your baby is too small, there comes a time when you know that you have to start disciplining your child. In most cases this is a stage that comes when the child is about 4 years of age and can be called a toddler.

There are various levels of manners that you will need to teach your child starting from table manners and social etiquettes to the manner in which he needs to deal with the peer group. While there are various sessions and articles on each of these aspects and the procedure to adopt while teaching these, the fact is that there are some guidelines that you need to be aware of in order to ensure that you are able to discipline your child well.

The first thing that you need to know is that being empathetic towards your child is extremely essential. While it may have been many years since you were a school going toddler, it is important to think of the times when you only wanted to watch television or read a book or play outdoors and be left alone. This does not mean that you should let your child do as he pleases but to appreciate their point of view as well.

A study among separated twins shows that there were stark similarities in twins regardless of the fact that they were brought up in entirely different cultures and homes. This goes to show that there is only a little bit that you can contribute to their upbringing and that they will flourish on their own.
